Ms. 4 has a ruffled knit skirt with shorts she likes a lot. I had originally picked up some heavy knit jersey from G Street for dresses for her. It was on the $3/yard table.
Instead, I decided to make her these Monkey Bar Skirts from Hey June Handmade. After the bathing suit I just made - these were a breeze. The only change I made was to insert 1" elastic in the waist. The jersey is just way too stretchy to hold the skirt up, particularly since she likes to low ride.
I don't have a serger, so I used the knit overlock stitch for seams and zigzag for hems. I've had enough trying to get my double needle to work - it just wasn't worth it.

I tried so hard to match the pattern but it isn't perfect. No Great British Sewing Bee for me :)
